I’ve started leafing through my sketchbooks on a treasure hunt, discovering favorite figures, shapes, motifs, colors and more. I’m now literally and figuratively drawing from my sketchbooks to build new whimsical drawings. You can see in the photo above four characters who are about to embark on all kinds of adventures!

Finally finished this whimsical drawing yesterday after building it, bit by bit, over the course of the past month or so. I used graphite pencils, Micron ink pens, colored pencils, Staedtler fiber tip pens, and Akua monotype ink printed on BFK Rives printmaking paper to make this drawing. I am smitten with the simple design of the Small Blocks Hat pattern which is featured in Traditional Nordic Knits: Over 40 Hats, Mittens, Gloves, and Socks by Johanna Wallin. This is the second Small Blocks Hat I’ve knit. More to come.
